The existing house is a typical colonial from the 1970’s era with separate kitchen, living, and dining rooms.  The Owner wanted to take out the walls between the rooms and create a large open kitchen. The formal living room became the new dining room, and the family room at the back of the house became the living space, with the expanded kitchen linking the two.  A large island with seating replaced a small eating area, and a window seat provides a nook for reading.
