Located 2 blocks from the beach in Virginia Beach, the Owners wanted to stay in their location but expand their house to accommodate 3 growing boys.  The existing contemporary roofline was steep enough to accommodate a third floor in the attic, giving them much needed square footage for an extra bedroom, bathroom, and playroom.  We expanded the rear of the house to add a screened porch and relocate the master bathroom, allowing space for a fourth bedroom on the second floor. The kitchen expanded enough to add an island, and moving the laundry to the second floor allowed a shower to be added to the first floor powder room, making the 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath house into a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom house with an expanded great room.  Removing the brick veneer on the front allowed windows in the attic for the new bedroom, and extending the entry porch to the front of the house made the previously hidden entrance more apparent from the street.
